The Common Core Works Website below contains content and grade-specific parent roadmaps that provide detailed information for parents about the expectations of the Common Core in Mathematics. These roadmaps include examples of grade-level focus in the content area using parent-friendly language, sample progressions of learning across three grade levels in the Common Core, and tips to parents on communicating with teachers about their child’s work and how to support student learning at home. One Means All…Starkville Oktibbeha School District

onestkokt3-300x300Consolidation information at your fingertips…           Stay tuned for updates to this post.

Pulley Rescinds Bond Resolution (Starkville Daily News, February 3, 2015)

Letter from Starkville PTO Executive Council President Anne Stricklin…

Hi, All–

My name is Anne Stricklin, and I am the current president of the Starkville PTO Executive Council. At our January board meeting, we discussed the recent developments with the reverse referendum for a county bond issue to help fund improvements to the county buildings and instructional materials and to help build the new MSU Partnership School for 6th-7th grades. A group of county residents who are opposed to tax raises had made petitions against the bond, and they turned in the petitions on Tuesday of this week. Those signatures are being certified and we should know the results late next week. More details can be found in the Starkville Daily News and the Starkville Dispatch.

Starkville Parents for Public Schools is working on some information that can be shared with people who have questions about the bond. They have already developed a graphic which says, “One Means All” that can be used as your Facebook profile picture. If you go to my FB page, you can link several articles about consolidation and the Partnership School as well as an informational document from the SSD that details the bond information with specific examples of how much tax is charged per $100,000.

In this next week leading up to the final results, we need as much positive PR about consolidation and the Partnership School out in our community. There are many who aren’t aware of our plans for consolidation, and, there may be some misinformation out there. If you feel comfortable doing so, will you share this information on your social media platforms or with friends and neighbors who have questions? I firmly believe consolidation will be successful, but we need all affected parties (which is the entire city of Starkville, MSU, and the county) to pull together and give our kids the best options possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact me personally to discuss any concerns.

Thank you for all that you do for our kids and schools,

Anne Stricklin
